Our methodology
The details behind the comparison.
How DialCompare selects services, records pricing and separates sourced facts from editorial judgment.
Start with a real buying decision
We focus on AI receptionists a small business can use to handle incoming calls. General voice-generation tools and developer APIs solve different problems, so they are outside this first comparison.
This is a selected shortlist, not a complete market survey. We include services with enough current primary information to explain their pricing model and meaningful limits. Inclusion is not a performance endorsement.
Compare the plan, not just the price
A monthly fee has meaning only alongside the plan it buys. We record the plan name, billing period, included allowance, extra-usage charge, commitment and material conditions. The main table shows selected paid monthly plans in USD. Free tiers and additional researched plans appear in the individual profiles.
We keep calls, minutes and unique callers separate. We do not turn one unit into another without explicit assumptions, and we do not label an unknown cost as zero. Optional charges and unresolved conditions remain visible instead of being folded into a misleading total.
Use traceable evidence
Price and feature facts come from provider pricing pages, product documentation or help pages. Each record includes the source URL and the date it was checked. If sources disagree, we narrow the claim, flag the uncertainty or leave the value unverified.
A source date describes an actual research check. It does not promise that a provider has kept the offer unchanged since then. Confirm the current terms and your eligibility before purchasing.
Keep judgment separate from observation
Sections labelled “Our editorial view” explain who might find a plan useful and which tradeoff deserves attention. Those are reasoned judgments from the recorded plan details. They are not measured outcomes.
We have not run controlled call tests for these initial profiles. We therefore make no claims about comparative voice quality, accuracy, reliability or conversion rates. We do not use star ratings, invented testimonials or a universal “best overall” winner.
Review and corrections
Our working process uses an author and a separate peer reviewer. They check the sources, limitations and rendered comparison before changes are published. This helps catch mistakes; it does not replace your own evaluation of a service.
We revisit cited sources when changing a recommendation or plan detail, and schedule a monthly review of published provider records. A reported pricing or feature change can trigger an earlier check. Only actually checked records receive a new source date.
Commercial arrangements are explained separately in the disclosure.
